Questions.

Everything you might wonder before you start telling each other things.

What is toldyou.to?

toldyou.to is a free shared to-do list app for households. Everyone you live with sees the same lists, can add and check things off from any phone or laptop, and changes sync instantly — with no app to install.

Is it free?

Yes. Make a household, invite people, and make as many lists as you like — free while we're new. No card, no catch.

Does toldyou.to work on both iPhone and Android?

Yes. It runs in any web browser, so it works the same on iPhone, Android, and laptops. Mixed-device households all share one live list — unlike Apple Reminders or Things 3, which are Apple-only.

Do I need to download an app?

No. toldyou.to runs in the browser on any phone or laptop — iPhone, Android, whatever's in the house. No app store, no “which app was it again?” You can add it to your home screen if you like.

Is toldyou.to a good alternative to Things 3 or Apple Reminders?

It's a strong alternative when you need to share. Things 3 is a beautiful personal app but Apple-only with no sharing; Apple Reminders only shares well among Apple users. toldyou.to is built for one shared household list that works across every device.

How is it different from a group chat or a shared note?

A chat scrolls away and a note belongs to one person. toldyou.to is one shared list everyone can edit, with live check-off so two people don't buy the same thing — plus a friendly nudge when something's actually urgent.

Can I share a list with someone who doesn't have an account?

Yes. Every list can be shared by a link. You choose whether it's view-only or editable, and whether opening it needs an account. Perfect for the catsitter, grandma, or the dog walker.

Do I need an account to start?

No. You can start a list and share it before signing up. Create an account later to keep it and bring it into your household.

Can I add things by voice or from an AI assistant?

Yes. toldyou.to has an MCP integration, so you can connect Claude or another MCP client and just say “add milk to the groceries” — it lands on the shared list live, and appears for everyone instantly.

Does it have due dates, reminders, or tags?

Not yet — on purpose. toldyou.to is deliberately about the essentials: lists, headings, and checking things off fast. Due dates, reminders, and templates are on the roadmap.

How many people can be in a household?

As many as you need. Everyone sees every shared list, and changes sync in real time across all of their devices.

What happens to things I check off?

They tuck into a tidy “done” pile at the bottom of the list, so your active items stay front and centre. Nothing is lost.

Is my data private?

Your lists are visible only to your household and anyone you explicitly share a link with. We don't sell data or run ads. See Privacy & cookies for the details.
